Rev. John Burkley, Pastor

Father John Burkley was born in Blairsville, PA on April 22, 1944.  His present home parish is the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Cuyahoga Falls, OH.  Father Burkley attended Borromeo Seminary High School and College and St. Mary’s Seminary.  He served the parishes of St. Cosmas and Damian in Twinsburg, both St. Jerome and St. Catherine in Cleveland, St. Francis of Assisi in Gates Milles, St. Gregory the Great in South Euclid, St. Robert in Euclid.  We are blessed to have Father Burkley as he joined our St. Edward and St. Lucy Parish in October of 2001.  Besides his church family, Father Burkley’s family includes his mother Martha, brothers William of Orwell, Charles of Cuyahoga Falls, and sister Beverley Moore of Pullman WA.  His father William and his brother Greg are deceased.

With the five years that he has served our parish, Father Burkley expresses his gratitude to everyone for all the help and support to make this St. Edward and St. Lucy Parish Community very successful.  Many Blessings to you all.

Recently celebrating his 90th birthday and enjoying his fifth anniversary of retirement, Father Harry Winca calls for gratitude to God for the years He has given Father Harry.  Rose hall was named after Father Harry's mother because he learned from her knee as Jesus learned from His mothers knee.  Besides the significance of being dedicated to his earthly mother there is the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary the words “Mystical Rose” which signifies this hall is dedicated also to the Blessed Virgin.  Father Harry is grateful for the many years he has spent here.  He continues to agree with the author Steven Covey that we ought to live, to love, to learn, and to leave a legacy.  Father Harry Winca hopes that he was able to convey to you “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all the things will be added to you”.  Also, he wishes to thank all that have enhanced his life and whose lives he has enhanced.  This continues to be his prayer since his Golden Anniversary.
